Mazda keys: chip, flip and smart
Most Mazdas from the early 2000s on have an immobilizer, so a new key has to be paired with the car before the engine will start. Many Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-7 models use a flip key with the remote built in. Newer Mazdas with push-button start use a smart key.
We cut the blade, connect our programming equipment to the car and add the new key, then test the start, the doors and the trunk with you. If you still have one working key, a spare is the simpler job. See car key duplication.

Test everything
We test the engine start, the door buttons and the trunk with you before we leave.
Before we cut or program a key, we ask for the vehicle registration and photo ID that matches it. For a leased or company vehicle, bring documents that show you are allowed to use it. Car keys come with a 3-month warranty, and car key programming comes with a 12-month warranty.
